Gael Monfils beat Sebastián Báez 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 1-6 and7-5 in the first round of the French Open at Roland Garros. The match lasted three hours and 47 minutes of play.
The victory made the tournament the most matches (21) defined in five sets in first round. It was the best match of the tournament so far, says former world No. 1 Rafael Nadal, who was beaten by Juan Martin del Potro.
