4.7 percent of all lessons were canceled without replacement in the first half of the 2023/24 school year. The last survey before the pandemic showed 3.3 percent complete cancellation of lessons.

Public schools scheduled an average of 1.8 percent more lessons per class per week than five years ago. Despite the higher failure rate, the bottom line is that there is still more teaching in North Rhine-Westphalia than before the corona pandemic.
