More than 10 million people worldwide suffer from Parkinson's disease. The main cause of the disease, for which there is currently no cure, is still unknown to researchers.

Finnish researchers have identified a strain of bacteria in the intestine that could be the cause of Parkinson's. The researchers believe that the results of their study can help doctors track down people who carry these particular bacteria and use them as targets for potential therapies. They went on to explain that removing the bacteria could potentially alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
