Some 451 clergy have committed child crimes against nearly 2000,1950 minors in Illinois since the <>s, the attorney general of this northern US state revealed Tuesday. His office opened an investigation into predatory priests in 2018, after the publication of a report on the Church of Pennsylvania that had sent shockwaves through the United States.
The report contains many terrifying testimonies, including of a woman who, when she was ten, was repeatedly raped by a priest employed as a mathematics teacher in a Catholic school; or men, abused as children, who then struggled for years with suicidal thoughts and addictive behaviors.
