France has banned certain short flights within the country when there is a rail alternative. In Spain today there are five main routes that are covered regularly by plane that can be made by train in a margin of two and a half hours.

Ecologists in Action calls for a ban on short flights similar to that of France to be applied in the country, while the airline sector wields a study that ensures that this would only reduce 0.1% of national emissions. The Madrid-Barcelona air bridge is by far the route with the most emissions of peninsular flights.
