Many mountain tourists attempt to climb the Zugspitze without sufficient equipment. From an altitude of 1,500 meters there are the first snow fields, the ropes are buried under snow, you need ice axes, your own ropes and crampons for the climb.

At the same time, many mountain bikers are already trying to complete the Wetterstein circuit on the ZUGSPitze. Two Czechs (19 and 21 years old) recently wanted to be rescued by mountain rescuers with a skidoo after they had climbed the 2,108-meter-high Krippenstein with only sneakers and without any orientation aid. A 19-year-old died in an avalanche accident in the Tyrol mountains in the past few days. The mountain rescue service has also had to be called out again because hikers underestimated conditions that continue at higher altitudes. The situation in the mountains is currently treacherous and rescuers' advice: "Folding spades, Bunsen burners, tarpaulins and 50+ liter+ backpacks may be adequate camping utensils in the flatlands"
