President Recep Tayyip Erdogan holds up to four meetings a day during the election campaign. The opposition CHP has not managed to obtain the support of other parties.

In May 2023, Erdogan was re-elected with 52% of the votes. The pro-Kurdish Dem party, however, is going it alone at the risk of favoring the CHP, itself threatened in places by the rise of the Islamist party. The first significant results are expected at the end of the day in the city of Istanbul.
