Mounir Boutaa is accused of the assassination of Chahinez Daoud on May 4, 2021 in Mérignac. His lawyers appealed the charge on Monday.

The investigating chamber must now determine whether to maintain this charge, punishable by life imprisonment, or to reclassify it as “murder of a spouse” with a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. The victim, in the process of divorcing her executioner, had filed a complaint against him for domestic violence on several occasions.
