NATO rehearses an emergency in Norway – Pistorius: Russia’s power “gathered up here”. Around 20,000 soldiers from 13 allied nations are taking part in the large-scale exercise Nordic Response.

In addition to Nordic Response, the alliance partners also launched a series of national maneuvers called Steadfast Defender. NATO wants to use this to train the mobilization of combat units over long distances. However, it should not be read as a signal of deterrence towards Vladimir Putin.
