A paraglider pilot got into a leeward roller near Brannenburg and fell to his death. The pilot succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident and was only recovered dead by a police mountain guide.
The accident occurred around 11:20 a.m., when the pilot took off from the Rampoldplatte in a southerly foehn wind. According to initial findings, the pilot may have gotten into a meteorological phenomenon called "leeward Roller" shortly after take-off.
