Fezolinetant will be an alternative for women with tumors sensitive to hormone treatment or who prefer not to take these medications. The FDA, the agency that regulates drugs in the United States, has approved the first non-hormonal drug to treat hot flashes that some women suffer when they have menopause.

The drug is developed by the pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma, which will sell it under the name Veozah and will be available in the U.S. for the first time.
