The pollen season starts early and intensively in the Ebersberg district. The unusually mild weather is responsible for this.

The pollen bloom is nothing unusual at this time of year, but not to this extent. “This is a new record,” says Josef Biesenberger, district chairman of the Federal Nature Conservation Agency. The date of the start of vegetation has been pushed forward by over two weeks. For allergy sufferers it already is. The flying pollen causes those affected to have watery and itchy eyes, a runny or stuffy nose, throat and skin irritation, fatigue and, in the worst case, even shortness of breath. The “Pollen Danger Index” from the German Weather Service (DWD) provides a detailed overview. The expected pollen concentration by tree and grass species is displayed daily on a map of Germany online at www.dwd.de. For the Eberberg district, for example, the DWD is warning about birch and ash pollen in the coming days.
