The new record is set by the KStar reactor, the 'Artificial Sun' managed by the South Korean Institute for Fusion Energy, the Kfe. In the high confinement mode, in which the plasma has a longer energy confinement time, a lifetime of 102 seconds was achieved.

Tungsten is also the material chosen for the DTT machine, the Divertor Tokamak Test under construction in the Enea research center in Frascati and which should come into operation around 2029.
