New York judge rejects Trump's request to delay criminal trial over secret payments to actress Stormy Daniels. The former president's lawyers had asked that the start of the judicial process be postponed until the Supreme Court ruled on whether Trump is protected by presidential immunity.

Judge Juan Manuel Merchán denied that request. In his ruling, Judge Merchán stated that Trump waited too long to bring up the issue of presidential immunity: "The defendant had several opportunities to argue in favor of presidential Immunity before March 7, 2024," the magistrate wrote.
