Nina Gualinga is a leader of the Kichwa community of Sarayaku, in the Ecuadorian province of Pastaza. She left a violent relationship and denounced her ex-partner.

The limited access to justice makes this violence invisible in indigenous communities. Nina's experience reflects a broader reality that Indigenous women face various forms of violence, which includes rapes, disappearances, rapes and murders. She has denounced countless irregularities in the justice system and the lack of prosecutors trained in gender cases.
