North Korean leader Kim Jong Un says his country will deal a fatal blow to the enemy in the event of provocation. North Korea has designated Seoul as its "main enemy", closed agencies dedicated to inter-Korean dialogue and threatened to go to war for any violation of its territory.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol adopted a hard line towards the North, which possesses nuclear weapons, while improving his relations with Washington. The Democratic Party (PD), the main opposition party, which won a large victory, is in favor of a less aggressive approach towards Pyongyang. Experts believe that the former tenant of the White House, who held historic but ultimately unsuccessful summits with the North Korean dictator during his presidency, could promote a rapprochement with Pyongyang in the events of a victory in the U.S. presidential election. The result is good news for Kim Jongun, especially in view of a return to power of former US President Donald Trump in November, according to analysts. It is also bad news for the South Korean president, who is in a bad position for the remaining three years of his mandate.
