Norway is ready to recognize a Palestinian state, in conjunction with other countries, the Norwegian Prime Minister declared on Friday. The Norwegian Parliament adopted a proposal in November, tabled by the ruling parties, asking the government to recognize an independent Palestinian state.

The Spanish Prime Minister, for his part, undertook a tour this week of Poland, Norway and Ireland to talk about the “need to move towards the recognition of Palestine,” according to a spokesperson for the Spanish government. Sánchez is also very critical of the attitude of the Israeli government led by Benjamin Netanyahu since the start of the conflict in Gaza. The Hamas attack on October 7 caused the deaths of 1,170 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP report based on official Israeli data. The offensive launched in retaliation by Israel has so far left 33,634 dead in Gaza, the majority civilians, says the Hamas Ministry of Health. The Israeli government has denied that Hamas is responsible for any of the deaths.
