The North Rhine-Westphalian FDP has given its chairman Henning Höne a vote of confidence. The NRW-FDP has recovered in the opposition after defeat in the 2022 state elections.

The party conference sent a “signal of determination’, says Christian Lindner, the FDP federal leader. Lindner: The Free Democrats are ready for a reform package that eclipses the 2010 Agenda of the former SPD Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. The FDP parliamentary group shrank to twelve members and has now taken on the opposition role, says Lindner. The announcement is also an expression of a structural change that goes beyond NRW, says Hönne, who also leads the F DP parliamentary group.. The federal FDP is particularly badly affected by developments on the energy market, Höe says. The state government is pointing to Berlin because the replacement of the coal-out even further to 2030 is needed, he says. “Germany's competitiveness cannot be compensated for in the long term with subsidies,” he adds.
