Germany will pay 220 euros to Holocaust survivors living in Israel to help them overcome the trauma of October 7. The aid concerns 113,000 people and will amount to 25 million euros in total.

“Many Holocaust survivors were particularly affected by Hamas attacks, whether through the loss of their homes,” the German Finance Ministry said. The payment will be made in one lump sum, according to the non-profit Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany, responsible for the payment. The payment is intended as a gesture of solidarity and support from Germany to with regard to Israel, the German ministry also explained. It is intended to help the victims of the Shoah, exacerbated by the anti-Semitism expressed throughout the world, the ministry also said. It will be paid in a single lump sum of 220 euros, the conference on JewishMaterialClaims against Germany said, adding that the payment will not be made on a per-person basis, but as a single sum of money.
