Ambassadors of the 27 EU countries confirmed the agreement reached in the inter-institutional negotiation between the Council and the European Parliament. The new directive "addresses the increase in packaging waste, while harmonizing the internal market and promoting the circular economy" Malta and Austria have reserved scrutiny of the agreement, according to diplomatic sources.
