Every February 14, the elders of San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) write letters to celebrate Valentine's Day. This is a contest organized by the Gloria Fuertes Municipal Center of the municipality for 20 years.
Letters submitted to the competition can be written in prose or verse and addressed to any recipient. The 2023 winner Mari Carmen González, 77, was studying dyslexic but is now a creative writing instructor at a senior center in the city of Madrid.
