Jean-Hugues Roger, 61, has been a country guard in Villiers-Saint-Frédéric, Yvelines, for 36 years. He works with police, environment, natural resources, forestry, fishing in fresh water, wild fauna and flora, and even funeral police.

“We have a varied panel: 150 sectors of activity in total,” says Jacques Armesto, who created the National Federation of Country Guards in 1992. This is what Jean- Hugues likes, “the contact with people and the diversity of missions”
