One person contracts bird flu after coming into contact with infected dairy cows in Texas. The patient is being treated with an antiviral medication and the only symptom he has is eye inflammation, health authorities said, stressing that the risk to humans remains low.

On March 25, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), USDA and CDC confirmed the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in two dairy herds in Texas and Kansas. Preliminary tests suggest that cows in New Mexico and Idaho could also be infected.
