A man set himself on fire this Sunday in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington. He is hospitalized in critical condition and the causes of the incident are unknown.

There were no other injuries. Protests against the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip and US military aid to Israel are often organized in D.C., where the embassy is located. On October 7, Hamas led an attack on more than 20 Israeli communities, causing about 1,200 deaths and nearly 5,500 injuries. In retaliation, Israel declared war on Hamas and began a bombing campaign on Gaza.
