The French women's speed team failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics. Mathilde Gros, Marie-Divine Kouamé and Julie Michaux finished outside the top 8.

The French team will only be present in 11 of the 12 events which appear on the Olympic program on the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines track. But even if the team did not qualify, there will still be French sprinters during the individual speed and keirin events. The men's team sprint took 5th place in the Nations Cup played in Milton (Canada) The French did better. Fourth in qualifying, they beat Canada in the final for 3rd place. The women's team pursuit will constitute a good chance of a medal at the Olympics. The quartet composed of Clara Copponi, Valentine Fortin, Marion Borras and Marie Le Net just had to score points, even those in last place, to definitively ensure their qualification for the Olympics, they did better in the last round.
