Payment card for refugees: The Unterallgäu district is currently waiting for a Bavaria-wide solution. The federal and state governments decided last year that payment cards should be introduced in Germany.

In Bavaria, the payment card is now being tested in four model municipalities. The new system is scheduled to be introduced across the Free State in the summer. The card can only be used for purchases and payments within the district; cash cannot be withdrawn or transferred. The AfD parliamentary group had requested that a payment card be introduced for refugees based on the model of the Greiz district (Thuringia)
