There is no convergence in spending in sight; the political resistance is too great. For 2027, 51.9 billion euros are currently earmarked for defense and 134.6 billion euros for pension insurance. This means that the Bundes wehr is missing almost 30 billion euros in order to achieve NATO's two percent target.
