Ferdinand Marcos: Philippines has no plans to open or establish more bases. Manila announced last year providing access to four additional military bases to the US military.

The four new bases include sites near the South China Sea, an area over which the Philippines and China have competing claims. Marcos also said his country's mutual defense pact with the United States would be invoked if a "foreign power" killed a Filipino soldier. He also indicated that he would not hand over his predecessor Rodrigo Duterte to the Criminal Court international (ICC) As a reminder, the ICC is investigating the deadly crackdown against drug trafficking in the archipelago. “We do not recognize the order they will send us. It’s no,” Ferdinand Marcos declared during a meeting with the Foreign Correspondents’ Association of the Philippines, attended by members of the Philippine military and foreign diplomats.  "The answer is no. The Philippines is not going to open (access) or establish (more bases)”
