“The brain hates uncertainty: faced with a void of information, it will seek to fill it by accepting all possible and imaginable theories,” says researcher Charlotte Jacquemot, head of the cognitive studies department at the ENS. “Half information is the door open to all beliefs, a red carpet for conspiracy theories.”
