The Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto, said this at question time in the Senate. In March 2024, the first phase of the work of the National Platform for Sustainable Nuclear Energy (PNNS) was concluded, during which a survey of the national and international situation on the topic was carried out.
In the three subsequent phases we will proceed with the development of a roadmap and the definition of actions with the related resources to incentivize the possible resumption of the use of nuclear energy in Italy. The Platform will certainly be able to make use of the important contributions that will emerge from the fact-finding investigations launched at the Environment Commission of the Senate and the joint Environment and Productive Activities commissions of the Chamber of Deputies. "The Platform is continuing its work with a view to defining a 'National Strategy for sustainable nuclear power', the contribution of which will also be included in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (Pniec) to achieve the decarbonisation objectives"
