Police investigate fire at Sen. Bernie Sanders' Vermont office as an arson attack.

There were no injuries and Sanders was not in the building in Burlington at the time, authorities said. The alleged arson comes as Capitol Police recorded an increase in threats last year. Police investigated more than 8,000 cases – about 500 more than the previous year – including some with “concerning statements and direct threats,” according to a January statement. Sanders, 82, is in his third term as a senator. He previously served in the House of Representatives for 16 years.
