The Ministry of Culture sees its annual envelope decrease by more than 200 million euros. As Bercy is looking for savings, the subsidies paid to Parisian cultural establishments will be less significant this year.
The Paris Opera, the Comédie-Française, the Louvre and the Théâtre de la Colline are affected. The decision is described as ‘brutal’ by the City of Paris. The former Minister of Culture Rima Abdul Malak, since replaced by Rachida Dati – also mayor of the 7th arrondissement – had announced, last September, a 6% increase in this same budget.
