According to media forecasts, Portugal has moved far to the right in early parliamentary elections. Democratic Alliance (AD) led by top candidate Luís Montenegro won the vote.

Socialist Party (PS), which has been in power since the end of 2015, only came in second with 25 to 29 percent. The election was also characterized by social and economic problems such as housing shortages and low-wage inflation. Portugal has been overwhelmed by an increasing wave of doctors, teachers, police officers and many others are protesting.
