Inaugurated on April 1, 1984, the Train des Mouettes is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Owned by the Charente-Maritime department, this 21 km long tourist line connects Saujon to La Tremblade.

The Schneider No. 3 “Progrès” is the oldest locomotive in France still in service on standardized tracks. It weighs 26 tonnes and 350 horsepower, put into service in 1891, swallows up to 100 liters of water and 25 kg of coal per kilometer.
