Mexico has filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice against Ecuador. The complaint was filed after the Ecuadorian government broke off diplomatic relations with Mexico.

The move was made in response to the arrest of two Ecuadorian nationals in Mexico on suspicion of embezzling money from a Mexican bank. The two men have since been released and the case is being investigated by the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The case is expected to be heard by the end of the month and the complaint will be made on behalf of the people of Mexico, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The decision to sever diplomatic ties with Ecuador was made after a meeting between the two countries' foreign ministers, who agreed to the break-up of diplomatic relations. The U.N. Security Council passed a resolution condemning the actions of Ecuador's government, calling for the return of diplomatic ties. The resolution also called for the establishment of an international tribunal to investigate the incident.
