Rapper MHD, who appealed his murder conviction, has been released from custody. Last September, the artist, whose real name is Mohamed Sylla, was sentenced to 12 years for the murder of a young man in 2018, as part of a settling of scores between rival gangs.

Five of his co-defendants also received sentences ranging from 10 to 18 years of criminal imprisonment. Four of them appealed, the fifth being on the run and having been tried in absentia. Three other men, also in the dock, were acquitted.
