Egypt has begun negotiating with China for a series of major arms deals. The deals will include, inter alia, the purchase of advanced fighter jets, air defense systems and suicide drones.

Egypt may purchase the Chinese J10C fighter jet, which, according to foreign reports, is based on the Israeli Lavi fighter jet. This is part of a huge arms deal that will also include Saudi Arabia, reduce their dependence on American weapons, and give China a foothold in the region. The U.S. has often delayed the supply of weapons to both countries in recent years.
