Researchers: Meteorites near Berlin are a rare find. Visitors should be able to see some fragments in the exhibition in the future.
It is only the eighth case worldwide in which an asteroid's collision with the Earth was predicted shortly before it occurred. The tiny asteroid 2024 BX1 burned up near Berlin on the night of January 21st. The fireball could be seen from far away in the sky. The US space agency Nasa had announced it for Sunday morning near Nennhausen in Havelland, west of Berlin.
