The U.S. resolution advancing the “need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire” in Gaza was rejected this Friday by the UN Security Council.

If the project gathered eleven votes in favor, Russia and China, permanent members of the office of the United Nations Security Council, vetoed it. Algeria also voted against. A new vote will be held this Saturday at the U.N. Security Council but this time, the United States was not in the opposing camp. The country with the star-spangled banner had thus blocked three texts to this effect.
