Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene called for the removal of Mike Johnson, the speaker of the Republican majority in the US House of Representatives. Greene specifically criticized Johnson's efforts to pass bipartisan new aid payments for Ukraine and its defensive war against Russia.

Greene is not alone, as more and more Republican members of Congress are repeating Russian propaganda, according to Republican and Chairman of the Congressional Intelligence Committee Michael R. Turner. If all Democrats voted for it - i.e. against Johnson - only three Republicans would have to stab their speaker in the back. This narrow majority is also the reason why Johnson sometimes has to work with the Democrats and make concessions to them in order to achieve something. In a way, Mike Johnson has his predecessor Kevin McCarthy to thank for the dilemma he finds himself in. The Republican McCarthy had made a concession to the more radical parts of his party, which already included Marjory Taylor Greene, so that they would elect him as speaker. He set the threshold for submitting the motion to vacate the speaker's post at a representative or a representative.
