Rishi Sunak will travel to the Council of Europe summit in Reykjavik on Tuesday. He will then travel to Tokyo for a one-day bilateral meeting.
The G7 summit comes "at a pivotal moment, as Ukraine redoubles its efforts in its fight for survival," Sunak said. The Conservative Party recorded disastrous results in local elections last week, with the Labour Party winning the most seats. The Labour Party is expected to win the next general election, which will be held in May 2015.
