Kilauea's Halemaumau crater, far from inhabited areas of the U.S. island paradise in the Pacific Ocean, launched 60-meter-high explosions and worries about the gas emanating.

The eruption comes months after its large neighbor, Mauna Loa volcano, became active. It is the world's largest volcano, which erupted for the first time in four decades late last year, with lava fountains up to 60 meters high, and emanated rivers of melted rocks.
