Roger Waters was fired by the BMG record company after controversy over his statements about Israel, the United States and Ukraine. The label's decision came after the controversial position of the former Pink Floyd leader, who was accused of anti-Semitism.

The deal between BMG and Waters was signed in 2016 and originally included plans to release a newly recorded version of Pink Floyd's acclaimed 1973 album, Dark Side of the Moon. But, with the arrival of Thomas Coesfeld, the company's new chief executive, said project fell apart and the agreement with Waters began to falter.
