RSV wave is rolling over Austria: infection numbers are increasing dramatically. A first peak emerged in the first calendar week of 2024: 296 people were admitted to hospital, 13 of whom were treated in intensive care.
In a federal state comparison, Vienna was the most affected, with 63 people in hospital. The symptoms are similar to those of an influenza infection. Common symptoms include cough, runny nose and fever. The number of sick people has continued to rise due to flu infections and influenza, said the expert.
