Several thousand people gathered in Saint-Denis, France, on Saturday to celebrate Pride. The event was organized to raise awareness of the rights of people of color.

It is the first of its kind in France, and the second in the U.S. after a similar event in 2010. The theme of this year's event is "I am a Queer, and I am proud to be one," says the event's organizer, Jean-Claude Boudreau. He adds: "It's important for us to show that we are proud of our queers and that we support them"
