The Romanesque church of Saint-Léger-aux-Bois, near Compiègne, was built in 1083. It was classified as a Historic Monument in 1913, but is in poor condition.

“When the wind blows, it lifts the tiles which come loose. This causes infiltration,” says Noëlle Cardon, president of Friends of the Church. The church is still standing, but it is gradually falling apart, says Cardon.
