Discussions about China's stance on the conflict in Ukraine are expected on the China trip. Politicians from the Greens and FDP have called on the Chancellor to address conflict issues during his trip to the People's Republic of China. They also called on him to address the importance of the international, rules-based order and human rights violations by the Communist Party in Xinjiang and Tibet. The Green Party considers Taiwan a breakaway territory, while the FDP calls for Germany's cooperation with Taiwan to be confidently represented by the Federal Republic of Germany. The FDP urged caution when it comes to scientific cooperation with China. “We cannot be naive when dealing with China,” said FDP politician Bettina Stark-Watzinger.“The status quo in the Taiwan Strait concerns the world,’ said Green Party member Boris Mijatovic. � “The Chinese government is pursuing its own long-term goals with Russia.”
