The White House has given NASA the task of finding a standard to measure time on the Moon. The goal is to have the new standard by the end of 2026, which will be called "Coordinated Lunar Time" The new lunar time standard should also be regulated by atomic clocks, just like terrestrial standards.

It should be the reference point of the future communications network destined for the Moon, which NASA has called Luna Net and to which the US space agency is working with the European Space Agency.
