Mantes-la-Ville, Yvelines, pampers its red squirrels. The municipality is doing everything to save the rodent population.

Red squirrels are very exposed to predators and lack of food during the winter. A tiny wooden cabin has been tied around a tree, two meters from the ground. Inside, a tiny chest provides seeds and peanuts to passing rodents. “The squirrel will open the trap itself with its paws,” says a caregiver.
