Sign language becomes a subject in 24 elementary classes in Sicily. Sign language will be taught to improve inclusiveness and communication with people affected by deafness.

Since 2021 Lis has been officially recognized as a language with grammatical, syntactic and morphological rules, also useful for make foreign students literate, says the USR. The training course was aimed at implementing in teachers the competence in designing inclusive curricula that enhance the person and take into account the needs of all students. The project is now being extended to the entire region to promote school inclusion.
